A couple in Rathcoole
LINEMAN is a micro-brewery in Rathcoole, County Dublin, founded in 2019. The brewery belongs to the couple Mark and Vivienne, who run it together. They describe themselves as a family business brewing small batches.
Mark Lucey brings years of brewing experience and is in charge in the brewery himself. Vivienne Lucey is a graphic designer and takes care of the art and design.
The name is a tribute to Vivienne's father. He worked as a lineman on the electrification project in the Irish countryside in the 1950s. According to the brewery, the name stands for honest effort and a sense of adventure.
The beer of LINEMAN
The brewers want to make beers with a LINEMAN character of their own that are also endlessly drinkable. If they manage that, their work is done, they write themselves. As their values they name quality, innovation, community and sustainability.
Astral Grains, a Foreign Extra Stout, has been part of the permanent range since the brewery started. In 2024 the beer was named among the finalists for the best Irish beers. On their LinkedIn profile they list IPA, stout, barrel aged, lager and porter as keywords, among others.
LINEMAN at Hoptimaal
We have carried three beers from LINEMAN: two IPAs and a stout, all in 44 cl and with a strength between 6 and 7.2%. On Untappd, I Might Be Wrong, Astral Grains and ZEPHYR are rated highest. At the moment we have no LINEMAN in stock, so check the brewery page to see if there are new beers.
Drink hoppy beers as fresh as possible and well chilled, so the hops and the freshness come across best. You pour a stout like Astral Grains more slowly: take it out of the fridge a little earlier and let it warm up in the glass, so the flavour has more room.
