Scheldebrouwerij is a Belgian microbrewery from Hoogstraten. Brewmaster Peter van den Eijnden started brewing specialty beers in a shed in his back garden in the early nineties. Today the brewery is known for well-balanced beers such as Zeezuiper, Lamme Goedzak and Strandgaper, which have won several medals.

From a shed in the back garden to a brewery in Hoogstraten
Scheldebrouwerij is listed on Untappd as a microbrewery in Hoogstraten, in the Flemish Region. It began in the early nineties, when Peter van den Eijnden brewed his specialty beers in a shed in his back garden. He is still the brewery's brewmaster.
According to the brewery, its mission has stayed the same ever since: making beers that don't get boring and don't let you down. By their own account they have been doing that for more than 25 years, with a lot of trial and error to find the right flavour balance.
The brewery also picks its hops with care. Origin and processing determine how strong the aroma is, so they select their suppliers carefully. After that, they trust their own nose and senses.
Balanced beers with a Belgian base
Balance is Scheldebrouwerij's starting point. They weigh up every choice until the flavours are in harmony. The brewery describes itself as fascinated by Belgian brewing, but it also draws inspiration from international styles and ingredients.
The core range centres on Zeezuiper, Lamme Goedzak, Strandgaper, Oesterstout and Witheer. There is also Krab, and Toeback appears as a limited edition with a single hop variety. Zeezuiper, Lamme Goedzak, Strandgaper and Krab are now also available in cans.
The trophy shelf includes gold for Zeezuiper at the Brussels Beer Challenge 2023 and silver for Lamme Goedzak in 2024. In 2022 Zeezuiper received bronze at the World Beer Awards, and Strandgaper won a medal there too.
Scheldebrouwerij at Hoptimaal
At Hoptimaal you'll find beers from Scheldebrouwerij in 33 cl and 75 cl, including Lamme Goedzak in the large bottle. The styles range from blond, tripel, witbier and dubbel to an alcohol-free or low-alcohol beer. The strength is between 0.4 and 8 percent. The range changes, so not everything is always in stock.

Drink the blond beers and the witbier fresh and well chilled. Dubbel and tripel can be a little less cold, so you taste more of the flavour. A tulip glass or wine glass works well for all of these styles.
