A microbrewery from Diemen with a nature mission
Bird Brewery is a microbrewery in Diemen, Noord-Holland. The available sources reveal little about the founding and the people behind it, so we stick to what the brewery tells on its own site.
The mission reads 'to rewild life': bringing the wild back into beer, into nature and into moments. The brewery translates that into numbers. Between 2019 and 2025 it planted one tree per litre of beer sold with a 'Groen Nest', good for more than 150,000 trees. Since 2025 it supports the Landaankoopfonds of IUCN NL and local partners for every litre sold, to protect 1 m2 of vulnerable nature. In addition, together with Made Blue it compensates the drinking water needed for brewing, so that people in developing countries get access to clean water.
Bird names and beers that go down easy
The core range revolves around fruity beers with a modest to medium alcohol percentage. Zwaanzinnig is a 4.5% Witbier with wheat malt and tropical hops. Fuut Fieuw is a 4.6% session IPA with citrus, yellow tropical fruit and light caramel notes. Rumoerige Roodborst is a ruby-red American Amber of 5.8% with grapefruit and tropical fruit. Nog Eendje is a funky blond of 6% with caramel notes and fresh hops. The brewery also makes Non Alk, a 0.3% White IPA.
Besides the core range, Bird Brewery releases seasonal beers, limited editions and specials. Examples are Kook Ka Kaa Ka, an extra pale ale from the bird sound series, and Gulpse Wulp, a petit saison brewed together with Gulpener.

Drink the hoppy beers, such as Fuut Fieuw and Rumoerige Roodborst, as fresh as possible and well chilled, so the citrus and tropical fruit aromas stay sharp. Zwaanzinnig and Nog Eendje are lighter and fresher and suit a warm day or a first beer on the terrace.
