Three brewers with a shared mission
Brothers In Law Brewing started with Tim, Tim and Felix. According to their own website, together they have decades of experience in the beer world. In 2017 they decided to join forces to brew their own beer.
Family is central to them. It's not always peace and quiet, but being straight with each other keeps them sharp. Their mission is to brew what they like to drink themselves: authentic, uncomplicated beers, real, honest and without pretension.
Their brewing adventure led them to Brothers in Law Taphouse, in the middle of Utrecht. With 26 taps and a few new specials every two weeks, they call the Taphouse a playground for brewers themselves.
Beer without unnecessary bells and whistles
Their starting point is simple: they take something good and make it even better. Whether you like bitter or sweet, according to them there is room for everyone in their family. The motto on the website reads: unfiltered attitude, unfiltered taste.
The core range is broad in style. You'll find Auntie Flaunty (Hopfenweisse), Big Poppa (New England IPA), The Funcle (0.3 Pacific IPA), Son of a Gun (Hazy Australian Pale Ale), Spill it Sister (blond) and Yo Momma (IPA). So plenty of hops, but with a blond and a hopfenweisse there's also room for anyone who wants something more approachable.
Brothers In Law Brewing at Hoptimaal
From Brothers In Law Brewing we have two IPAs and a blond. They range from 6 to 6.3% alcohol, so these are beers with body, but not heavyweights. Part of the range is available in 33 cl.
Brothers In Law Big Poppa, Brothers In Law Spill it Sister and Brothers In Law Yo Momma are highly rated on Untappd. A good place to start if you want to get to know the brewery.
Drink the hoppy beers as fresh as possible and cold, so the hop aromas come through well. Check the best-before date and keep them in the fridge until you open them. The blond also tastes good a little less cold, which gives the malt side more room.
