A brewery at the old Marinewerf in Amsterdam
Brouwerij Homeland is based at the old Marinewerf in Amsterdam. They describe themselves as independent and headstrong adventurers who make this special location their own in their own way.
The brewery's website lists Bart Maes as director and Wietse Postma and John Makryonitis as brewers. The crew describes itself as a tight-knit group of brewers, creatives and doers, and keeps to the nautical language: the team is the crew, and anyone who works there is on board.
Homeland's beer and style
Homeland brews around 25 to 30 different beers a year. The range runs from fresh and fruity to robust and spicy. For inspiration and ingredients they look all around the world, and then they bend those to their own way of doing things. So far that has earned them 4 gold, 5 silver and 7 bronze medals.
The beers go into cans and stainless steel kegs, so you get aroma and flavour the way the brewers taste it from the tank. Two examples from their own line: Scheepsbok is a malty bock with a sweet finish, with plenty of rye and caramelised malts. Klapgijp #13 is a Calvados BA Quadrupel Bok, described by the brewery as heavy weather in a can.
Homeland at Hoptimaal
At our shop you'll find Homeland in 33 cl, with a strength between 5 and 8%. The range consists of blond, IPA, witbier and tripel. On Untappd, Homeland Zeebonk, Homeland Atlantis, Homeland Lifeline, Homeland Amsterdams Wit, Homeland Brassers Blond and Homeland Sirene are highly rated.
Drink the IPAs as fresh as possible and well chilled, so the hops and aroma stay at their best. Serve blond and witbier chilled too. A tripel tastes better a little less cold, because then the yeasty and spicy notes come through more clearly.
