A brewery with a kitchen in Niagara Falls
Counterpart Brewing is located in an industrial complex in the north of Niagara Falls, on Stanley Avenue. According to its own website, the brewery opened in early 2019, with the aim of building a community around good craft beer and food.
So it's not a bare production brewery but a craft brewery and kitchen. The kitchen makes homemade dishes, there is plenty of seating indoors and a large patio. The place is family-friendly and has games for adults and children. A video by Niagara Falls Museums about the city's brewing history mentions Counterpart as one of the recent additions to the local brewery landscape.
Hazy IPAs, sours and stouts
Counterpart describes its beers as progressive and inspired. The range runs from hazy IPAs and fruity sours to stouts with additions and lagers, and everything in between. The tap list changes constantly.
In the brewery's bottle shop you'll find cans such as hazy double IPAs, hazy IPAs, a schwarzbier and a smoothie sour. That shows well how broad their range is: hoppy and cloudy, but also dark and fruity.
Counterpart Brewing at Hoptimaal
At Hoptimaal the focus is on the styles IPA, barleywine and stout. The strength ranges from 6.5 to 15.2%, and the beers come in 47.3 cl and 50 cl packaging. On Untappd, Counterpart Angels (Blend 2), Counterpart Angels (Blend 1), Counterpart Echoes (Willett), Counterpart Echoes (Heaven Hill), Counterpart Blood Will Flow III and Counterpart Empire (Hazelnut Coffee) are highly rated.
Drink the IPAs as fresh as possible and well chilled, so the hops and aroma show at their best. Pour the heavier barleywines and stouts more slowly, slightly less cold, in a smaller glass. That gives you more depth and lets you let them warm up slowly.
