Guilty Monkey Brewery comes from Nijmegen
Guilty Monkey Brewery is based in Nijmegen, Gelderland. That is also how the brewery is listed on Untappd, BrewHunter and Pint Please. BrewHunter describes them as a Dutch craft brewery, known for bold and flavourful beers. They don't shy away from experimenting, and that shows in both the beers and the branding.
We found nothing in our sources about the year the brewery was founded or the people behind it. So we won't make anything up about that. What the brewery's own webshop does show: besides beer, they also sell wine, including French wines.
The beer and styles of Guilty Monkey
The core of the brewery is the little monkeys. The fixed range includes Blonde Aap, Tripel Aap and Ipa Aap, and those are also the bestsellers in the brewery's webshop. They also make beers such as Tripel Weizen, Hazy White and Jungle Juice, and earlier releases included a Hazy Double IPA, a Neipa Aap, the barley wine Barley Aap and King of the Tripel in 75 cl.
The Sober Monkeys line stands out, with Nuchtere Neipa Aap, Nuchtere Blonde Aap and Nuchtere Witte Aap, among others. According to Pint Please, the Nuchtere Blonde Aap is at 0.4%. At the other end of the spectrum are the Dubbelbock at 8.2% and the Barley Aap at 10%. So the range is wide: from fresh blond beers to hefty, heavy styles.
Guilty Monkey at Hoptimaal
At our shop you'll find the Guilty Monkey Dubbelbock, a bock of 8.2% in 33 cl. At the moment it is the only Guilty Monkey beer in our range, and also the highest rated on Untappd.
Take your time with this dubbelbock and don't serve it too cold. Take it out of the fridge 15 minutes before opening, so the malty side comes forward more. A tulip or beer glass works well. If you feel like something lighter or hoppier from Guilty Monkey, look to the brewery itself for the Ipa Aap or the Neipa Aap, and drink those fresh and cold.
