A barn next to a linden tree
Lindeboom started in 1870 in Neer, Limburg. Willem Geenen brewed his first beer there in a barn next to an eighty-year-old linden tree, and the company is named after that tree. The brewery has now existed for more than 150 years and is still an independent family brewery. The brewing water comes from its own spring.
If you want to see it on site, you can book the Lindeboom Beer Tour. A guide walks you through the brewhouse and the bottling plant. The tour takes about 2.5 hours and ends at the beer shop. At the tasting you also get several tasting glasses and a board with Gouverneur cheese and/or sausage.
Slow brewing and three beer lines
Lindeboom has the Slow Brewing Excellence certificate, which it receives for the long cold maturation of the beers. According to the brewery itself, it is the only Dutch brewery in that programme.
The range splits into three lines: Lindeboom, Venloosch and the Gouverneur specialty beers. You'll find a pils, a bock, a saison and a Venloosch Altbier. Under the Gouverneur name you'll find Blond, Dubbel, Pale Ale, Quadrupel and Superieur, among others. Willem's Erfenis, a 10% quadrupel, is also part of the range. The brewery also makes alcohol-free versions, including a Gouverneur Blond 0.0.
