Eem has brewed in Amersfoort since 2006
Since 2006, Eem has brewed its own Eembier. The brewery's own site calls that almost 20 years, and according to that site the beer comes from its own brewery. The public face is Het Brouwhuis, a taproom in the middle of Amersfoort's historic centre, on the Groenmarkt.
Het Brouwhuis calls itself the living room of brouwerij Eembier: warm, relaxed and easy-going. You drink craft beer there, on tap and from the bottle, from classic beers to specials. They also serve wine, cider and soft drinks, and bites to share. If you want to taste several beers, you can take a beer flight with three Eembier beers, served with a salty snack.
A wide range of styles
Eem doesn't stick to one style. What we've had from them runs from IPA and blond to stout, tripel, barleywine, weizen and lambic & gueuze, plus an alcohol-free or low-alcohol beer. The strength ranges between 0.3 and 10%.
On Untappd, Eembier Dark Hops, Eem Staande Ovatie, Eem Beestig, Eem Kranig, Eem Team Spirit and Eem Tierig, among others, are rated highly. The sources say nothing about recipes, ingredients or brewing equipment, so we leave it at that.
Eem at Hoptimaal
At Hoptimaal we have had twelve beers from Eem, of which six are in stock right now. They come in 33 cl. Most of them are IPAs and blond beers, alongside a stout, a tripel, a barleywine, a weizen, a lambic & gueuze and an alcohol-free beer.
Drink hoppy beers like the IPAs fresh and well chilled, so the hops are at their best. The heavier beers, like the stout and the barleywine, you drink more slowly and a little less cold, so the flavour has room to open up. If you first want an idea of Eem's style, start with one of the higher-rated beers in the range.
