Norwegian traditions and modern craft beer
The brewery makes a range of beers that embrace both Norwegian traditions and modern craft influences. In the range we've come across, strong styles dominate: imperial stouts such as Munin Tiramisú, Hugin Cold Mash, Hugin Lønnesirup and Hugin Chocolate Brownie.
They also brew Valhall, a 16% barleywine that also appears cask-aged, such as Valhall Peated BA. The strengths in this range run between 12.5 and 16%.
RYGR Brygghús at Hoptimaal
With us you'll find two 33 cl barleywines of 16%: RYGR Valhall Hiernagla Peated Whisky Cask and RYGR Valhall Hiernagla Rum Cask. Both are among the highest-rated RYGR beers on Untappd.
These are beers for slow sipping. Don't serve them ice-cold, but slightly above fridge temperature, so the malt sweetness, the cask and the smoke or rum come into their own. A small glass is enough, and with two people you can easily share one bottle.
