A brewery and taproom in Morris Plains
Autodidact Beer is at 1745 Route 10 in Morris Plains, New Jersey. On their own website they describe themselves as a brewery and taproom with an emphasis on carefully made ales and lagers, in a relaxed atmosphere. They have been brewing since 2023, and their motto is 'Wander with us'.
The taproom is more than a tap. Guests may bring their own food or have it delivered from one of the restaurants nearby. There is a free community library where you can borrow or donate books, and on Saturdays there is live music.
Changing range and collaborations
Autodidact Beer releases a new beer almost every week. According to the brewery, they are gone again quickly. So the range is constantly changing, and that fits the styles they make: from hoppy IPAs to traditional lagers.
One example is Diamond Mine, a double IPA of 8.5% that they made together with Counterpart Brewing. The base is pilsner malt with oats, with hops such as Nelson, Southern Cross and Tropical Fusion. On the lager side there is Sonne, an Oktoberfest Märzen of 5.4% in collaboration with Requiem and Wild Fern, hopped with Callista and brewed with floor-malted Bohemian pilsner malt. Engel is their own Märzen of 5.4%, hopped with Perle.
Autodidact Beer at Hoptimaal
We had two IPAs from Autodidact Beer in stock, with an alcohol percentage of 8 to 8.1% and in a 47.3 cl pack. Super Saturated and Full Circle are highly rated on Untappd. At the moment we have no Autodidact Beer in stock.
Drink this kind of IPA as fresh as possible and cold from the fridge, so the hops stay at their best. With 8% alcohol, taking your time over a glass is wiser anyway than treating it as a thirst quencher.
