Meer over Doppelbock
What does it taste like?
Most doppelbocks are copper-coloured to dark brown. They smell and taste of deeply toasted malt, sometimes with a bit of caramel, a hint of chocolate and dark fruit such as plum. The hops stay in the background. According to the BJCP, usually 7–10% alcohol, with a medium to full body.
In the Netherlands, watch the names: 'bok' or 'bock' may only be used on beer with enough original gravity, so a Dutch bokbier is not automatically a doppelbock. If you're after bokbier, see bock and bokbier. You can read everything about this style in the Beer School on doppelbock.
