Meer over Stout Beer
Which stout suits you?
- Dry or Irish stout: roasted, often coffee-like and dry, and yet remarkably smooth.
- Milk or sweet stout: sweet and full, often with lactose, a milk sugar that the yeast leaves alone.
- Oatmeal stout: made with oats, for a full, silky-smooth mouthfeel.
- Imperial stout: strong and intense, and often aged in a barrel. You will also find those under barrel aged.
- Pastry stout: strong and sweet, with additions such as chocolate, vanilla, coffee or coconut, like a dessert.
Serving
A good starting point: 10–13 °C, an imperial stout in a cognac glass. Read everything about the style in the Beer School on stout, or also take a look at porter.
Breweries you often come across here: Jackie O's, Bereta, Clandestin, Põhjala, Blackout Brewing and Brouwerij Kees. For every beer you see the current Untappd score.
