A Barcelona brewery with more than 150 years of history
Damm comes from Barcelona. According to hopIQ, August Kuentzmann Damm, an Alsatian immigrant, founded the company in 1876. S.A. Damm is now one of the oldest and largest brewing groups in Spain, with its head office in Barcelona.
On its own visitor website, Damm talks about a start more than 150 years ago. In the Antiga Fàbrica at Carrer del Rosselló 515 you can see, among other things, the Sala de Brassatge, the Sala de Màquines and the Arxiu Històric. There you learn how the beer was made in the early days. The second brewery is in El Prat de Llobregat and can also be visited.
According to Damm, that brewery works with 100% natural ingredients and with August K. Damm's original recipe from 1876.
From Mediterranean lager to the Witbier Inedit
The best known is Estrella Damm, a Mediterranean lager. Damm also makes a range of other beers, including alcohol-free and flavoured versions.
For specialty beer fans, Inedit is the most interesting. It is a Witbier meant to be drunk with food and was developed with chef Ferran Adrià. hopIQ describes the flavour profile as coriander, wheat, orange and citrus. That fits the style: light, fresh and spicy.
Damm at Hoptimaal
We have had Inedit Damm in 33 cl and in a 75 cl bottle. It is a Witbier and it is rated highly on Untappd. At the moment there is nothing from Damm in stock, but do check back, because our range changes.
Drink Inedit well chilled and preferably as fresh as possible, in a wheat beer glass or a large wine glass. The 75 cl bottle is suitable for sharing at the table. That fits the idea behind the beer: it is made to go with food.
