From De Molen to a label of his own
In 2004, Menno Olivier founded Brouwerij De Molen in the historic windmill De Arkduif in Bodegraven. The brewery grew into a fixture of the Dutch craft beer scene, exported to more than 40 countries and produced more than 10,000 hectolitres in 2017. Hel & Verdoemenis is one of its best-known beers. In 2019, Royal Swinkels took over the remaining shares; it already held 35%.
In 2024, Olivier started his own brand, Menno Olivier Brewing. After that, he joined La Pirata Brewing in Spain, a brewery known for its experimental approach. Founder Aran León calls Olivier's arrival a privilege. Olivier himself says this lets him continue Menno Olivier Brewing and bring his knowledge and vision to La Pirata.
The beer from Menno Olivier Brewing
The sources reveal little about the recipes, equipment and brewing location of the own label, so we stick to what we have had in stock ourselves. These are heavy, dark beers: two stouts and a dubbel, with an ABV of 12.5 to 16%.
It fits the name Olivier made earlier. Hel & Verdoemenis from De Molen is a 10% imperial stout. On Untappd, Menno Olivier Obsidiaan, Menno Olivier The Breach Of Trust and Menno Olivier FELLOWSHIP are our highest-rated beers from this label.

We have had three beers from Menno Olivier Brewing, all in 33 cl. What's in stock changes, so check the webshop for what's available now.
These are beers to drink slowly. Don't serve them ice cold: at around 12–14 °C the dark notes come out better. With this strength, a bottle is also fine to share between two. Store them cool and dark.
