From homebrewer to taproom in Bedford
Turning Point started with Alex Knight, a homebrewer who kept chasing new styles: a French saison, a lager, a pale ale and an IPA with an extreme amount of hops. That earned him a job brewing at one of the most respected craft breweries in the Dallas-Fort Worth region. There he learned what it takes to make good beer consistently.
At the end of 2016 the team went ahead with the plan. They looked for capital and visited local craft beer bars to get to know the beer lovers of North Texas. In August 2017 they signed the lease for the space in Bedford, and on 17 March 2018 the doors opened, with help from friends and family. TasteAtlas names Jon Paul Goytia, Alex Knight and James Peery as the founders.
The brewery is at 1307 Brown Trail. A larger taproom opened in 2021, but according to Beer in Big D, Turning Point moved back to the original space on Brown Trail in 2025.
Hazy IPAs, sours and lagers
On its own site, Turning Point describes its range as hazy IPAs, sours, lagers and seltzers, fresh on tap and in cans to take away. Everything on tap is brewed in the building behind the taproom.
TasteAtlas writes that the brewery quickly became known for its New England IPAs, along with a broad range in other styles. That fits Alex Knight's origins: a brewer who always wanted to try the next style.

You drink a stout like this slowly. Take it out of the fridge a while beforehand, so it warms up a few degrees from cold. Pour a smaller glass and, if you like, share it with someone. If hoppy beers from them come in, drink those as fresh as possible and well chilled.
