A brewery in Sint-Truiden, Haspengouw
Brouwerij Wilderen is at Wilderenlaan 8 in Sint-Truiden. That town is part of the cultural heart of the Haspengouw, a loam plateau that has counted among the most important farming regions in Belgium since Roman times. In the second half of the nineteenth century, the area grew into a major fruit region, when the railway carried fruit to England. Writer Breandán Kearney described the Haspengouw on Belgian Smaak as a region not known for beer, but where plenty has been happening in recent years.
On its own site, the company presents itself as a brewery and distillery. Visitors will find a brewery café, guided tours, a picnic and a brewery shop. In September 2026, Wilderen celebrates fifteen years with a three-day anniversary weekend, with live music and DJs.
Tripel, blond and Cuvée Clarisse
The brewery's site lists Betty Ford, Kriek, Tripel Kanunnik, Wilderen Goud and Cuvée Clarisse. There is also a whiskey-infused and a rum-infused version of the Cuvée Clarisse, the Clarisse Rouge and an alcohol-free beer.
The strength varies widely. According to BeerAdvocate, the Kriek is 3.5%, Wilderen Goud is a Belgian Pale Ale of 6.2% and the Tripel Kanunnik is a tripel of 8.2%. The Cuvée Clarisse is 9.2% and is listed there as a Belgian Dark Strong Ale; the version with whisky comes in at 10.2% and the one with rum at 11.2%.
Wilderen at Hoptimaal
With us you will find Wilderen in 33 cl, with two dubbels and a blond, in strengths from 6.2 to 11.2%. Wilderen Goud is the blond. The Cuvée Clarisse with whisky and the one with rum, together with Wilderen Goud, are among the brewery's highest-rated beers on Untappd.
Serve Wilderen Goud cold, around 6–8 °C, so the blond stays fresh. The stronger Cuvée Clarisse versions are for slower drinking and less cold, around 12–14 °C in a small glass. That brings out the aromas better and you get more out of the 10 to 11 percent.
