Two sisters start in the kitchen
Do and Tessel de Heij started brewing beer in their kitchen as a hobby in 2013. That grew into a company that officially got going in 2015. According to Wikipedia, the sisters wanted to break gender stereotypes in the beer world and make beer more accessible to women, because beer is culturally more often associated with men.
In 2016 their beer came second in the Albert Heijn Product Pitch. After that, it was in all Albert Heijn stores in the Netherlands for a year. In 2019, after a successful crowdfunding campaign, the brewery opened its own bar in Amsterdam, at Jan Pieter Heijestraat 119.
A gypsy brewer with a broad range
Gebrouwen door Vrouwen is a gypsy brewer: the beer is brewed at other breweries. In 2020 that happened in the kettles of Jopen and Troost. According to Wikipedia, the regular range includes Bloesem Blond (a Belgian blond), Gember Goud (a spiced beer), Gin Weizen and Tricky Tripel.
They also brew seasonal beers, such as Pumpkin Party, Zonnig Zeewit, Citrus Paradisi and Glüh Weizen. Their own website also lists Misty Mango and Bloesem Bluf 0.5%. So the range runs from blond and tripel to a beer of just 0.5%.
Gebrouwen door Vrouwen at Hoptimaal
At Hoptimaal we have had beers from Gebrouwen door Vrouwen in 33 cl: two blonds, a witbier and an IPA, with strengths from 0.5 to 6.3%. Highly rated on Untappd are Misty Mango, Bloesem Blond, Pumpkin Party, Sinas Cerveza and Bloesem Bluf 0.5%, among others. What is in stock changes, so check the page to see what is available now.
Drink the blond and white beers cold and as fresh as possible, then they stay fresh. The same goes for the IPA: storing it cool and drinking it quickly keeps the hops sharp. Bloesem Bluf 0.5% is handy when you want a beer without the alcohol. Ideally, store your cans or bottles cool and dark, and take them out shortly before drinking.
