A brewery in Chatham, New Jersey
Twin Elephant brews in Chatham, a town in New Jersey. In 2018 Hop Culture wrote that the brewery had opened about two years earlier and was quietly one of the best beer producers in the state.
Founder Tim Besecker explained in that same interview why he started. Together with his wife and friends he wanted to build a destination of their own for the community they grew up in, a place to get to know people and build relationships over a pint. In the taproom you sit, according to visitors, at wooden benches and a communal table, and there is outdoor space. According to one review, there is no food.
Juicy beers with a low strength
In 2018 Hop Culture described Twin Elephant's beers as easy-going, juicy and low in alcohol. At the time most of the beer was only available in the taproom, with an occasional can release on the weekend.
On the brewery's website you can see that the range goes beyond hoppy beer. On tap are, among others, a Berliner Weisse with passion fruit and raspberry at 4.2%, Considered A Kiwi (a New Zealand Pale Ale at 6.2%), the Schwarzbier Kaputte Stuhle at 5% and L'Agorà, an Italian Style Pale Lager at 5.1%. There are lagers too: Batch 16 is a Pre-Prohibition Style Pilsner and Loving Cup is a Bierhaus Pilsner. The Nosh series combines Citra with other hop varieties, such as Alora, Nectaron and Strata.

Drink an IPA like this one fresh and cool, so the hops come into their own. If you buy it, don't drink it too long after purchase, because hop aromas fade quickly. This is not a beer to serve ice cold: let it stand for a few minutes so the aromas open up.
