From home brewing in Singapore to Windsor
Two Flints was founded by Alex Kerr. He says himself that the brewery grew out of his fascination with every aspect of the brewing process, a path that began in 2017 with his first home brew in his flat in Singapore.
Today the brewery is in Windsor, Berkshire, at 25-26 The Arches on Alma Road. Next to the brewery is a taproom, where you can drink the beers on the spot.
The name comes from the saying 'it takes two flints to make a fire'. According to the brewery, the two flints stand for art and science: two different ways of thinking that together deliver more than the sum of the parts.
Hop-forward beers and lager from their own brewhouse
The brewery has a semi-automated 20HL brewhouse, made in the United Kingdom and designed specifically for hop-forward beers and lager. According to the brewery, a lot was invested in it.
The mission is to bring the latest developments in modern beer, inspired by travels around the world. At Two Flints you'll find IPAs and pale ales, but also lagers, stouts and barrel aged beers. A local guide to Berkshire reports that they regularly collaborate with other breweries from the region.
The goal is to become one of the most innovative breweries in the United Kingdom. A retailer describes the beers as clear and expressive, with attention to drinkability.
Two Flints at Hoptimaal
So far, Hoptimaal has carried four Two Flints IPAs, all in 44 cl and with a strength of 7–8%. On Untappd, Shift Change, Late Pick: Riwaka, Early Pick: Riwaka and Big Phil are rated highest. Nothing is in stock at the moment, so check the page for the current status.
Drink hoppy IPAs as fresh as possible and cool, but not ice cold, so the hops come into their own. Keep them in the fridge until you open them. At 7–8% alcohol you take your time and let the beer warm up a little in the glass.
